Battery options & usable capacity
BMW explicitly distinguishes net and gross energy in its June 2021 launch release: xDrive40 has 71 kWh net and 76.6 kWh gross; xDrive50 has 105.2 kWh net and 111.5 kWh gross. These presets cover those launch references. They do not describe later revisions, an M60 or the current condition of a used pack.

Charging capability
The same launch document lists DC peaks of 150 kW for xDrive40 and 200 kW for xDrive50, with battery thermal preparation before a scheduled charging stop. A peak is not the average for an entire session. Confirm the fitted AC equipment separately.

Battery warranty
The cited technical release is not a warranty certificate. Ask for the original-market battery terms, delivery date and distance limit, plus documentation of any replacement pack.
Things worth checking before purchase
- Confirm xDrive40 versus xDrive50 from the build documents; the usable baselines differ by 34.2 kWh.
- Ask the seller to demonstrate charging preparation and retain the start/end charge, temperature and elapsed time of a DC session.
- Note the wheels, tyre specification and any roof accessories when recording real-world consumption.
- Request battery-repair documentation and a diagnostic report for the installed pack.
