EV Real-World Range Calculator

Plan your driving range around usable energy, realistic consumption and an arrival reserve.

Your vehicle, your numbers

Example numbers are prefilled. Replace them with your vehicle data and local prices. Currency changes the label, not the exchange rate.

Where do I find this?

Use the exact model and market in the vehicle documents. A matching name alone does not verify battery specifications.

See the explanation →
kWh
An original specification preset must be replaced with current usable capacity where known.
Where do I find this?

Match usable/net capacity to the exact pack and configuration. Check whether this field asks for original or current capacity; gross capacity is different.

See the explanation →
kWh/100 km
Use battery-side driving consumption, not energy from your electricity bill.
Where do I find this?

Find recent driving consumption in the vehicle’s trip or energy display. Record the period and units. A charger receipt includes losses.

%
Where do I find this?

Read the battery charge percentage at the start of the scenario. This is state of charge, not state of health.

Where do I find this?

Choose the charge you want left on arrival. It must not exceed the starting charge.

°C
Where do I find this?

Use the expected outside temperature. It records context; it does not automatically set a range penalty.

Where do I find this?

Choose the description that matches this scenario. Review the explanation to see which settings affect arithmetic and which record context.

%
Add a percentage if the entered consumption does not already reflect your trip. Temperature and profile are context, not automatic penalties.
Where do I find this?

Enter a chosen consumption increase only if the baseline does not already include the harder conditions.

%
±10% is an illustrative sensitivity band, not a statistical confidence interval.
Where do I find this?

Choose an input-sensitivity assumption. A larger number widens the scenario; it is not a measured confidence interval.

Why is this an estimate?

Avoid double-counting cold or motorway use if these are already included in your consumption. Practical bands reflect your input sensitivity.

See how the calculation works

Range = usable capacity × available charge fraction ÷ consumption × 100. Scenario consumption = entered consumption × (1 + adjustment ÷ 100).

Avoid double-counting cold or motorway use if these are already included in your consumption. Practical bands reflect your input sensitivity.

Example: allow energy for your arrival reserve

With 60 kWh currently usable, 80% starting charge and a 10% arrival reserve, the planning window contains 42 kWh. At 16.5 kWh/100 km, the central trip estimate is about 255 km. The full-charge theoretical figure is different because it uses the whole usable capacity.

Where to get useful inputs

  • Use current usable capacity, if known. A new-car specification may overstate the energy now available.
  • Choose consumption that resembles the intended route. A profile label by itself does not change the calculation.
  • Enter a consumption increase to explore different conditions; temperature is context, not an automatic forecast.
Does the result promise I will reach the destination?

No. Wind, weather, speed, detours and vehicle conditions can differ from your inputs. Keep an appropriate reserve and use the vehicle’s own trip and charging guidance.
