Turkey electric vehicle ÖTV bands
For the battery-only passenger-car category covered by the GİB table below, the tax rate depends on motor power and the ÖTV taxable base. This calculator uses the List II snapshot dated 31 July 2026, reviewed on 25 September 2026. It is not a historical rate lookup or a promise that the same table will apply to a future sale.
| Motor power | ÖTV taxable base | ÖTV rate |
|---|---|---|
| Up to and including 160 kW | Up to and including TRY 1,650,000 | 25% |
| Up to and including 160 kW | Above TRY 1,650,000 | 55% |
| Above 160 kW | Up to and including TRY 1,650,000 | 65% |
| Above 160 kW | Above TRY 1,650,000 | 75% |
Taxable value, ÖTV and VAT are separate steps
Optional VAT scenario = (entered base + ÖTV) × entered VAT rate
The bracket uses the taxable base before ÖTV and VAT. Once a threshold is crossed, the selected rate applies to the base as a whole; this is not a marginal tax band applied only to the excess. Use the legally established base rather than reverse-engineering it from a listing price.
Illustrative calculation, not a vehicle price quote
With an entered TRY 1,500,000 base and 150 kW tax-classification power, the 25% band gives TRY 375,000 ÖTV and TRY 1,875,000 before VAT. If your documented VAT rate is 20%, entering that rate gives TRY 375,000 VAT and a TRY 2,250,000 combined scenario. The VAT rate is your input; the tool does not determine exemptions or special tax treatment.
The tax-classification power can differ from a marketing headline. Verify the exact variant’s documentation before comparing, for example, two Togg T10X, Tesla Model Y or Hyundai Kona Electric listings. No model-specific power, tax or price is filled automatically.
What about annual MTV and a used electric car?
Motorlu Taşıtlar Vergisi (MTV) is an annual motor vehicle tax with its own classification and tariff. It is not the ÖTV amount divided over the years you own the vehicle. Use the GİB Digital Tax Office’s MTV calculator and the vehicle’s registration, age, power and applicable value details to establish the annual liability.
Do not add a fresh first-acquisition ÖTV charge to an ordinary used-car asking price just because this table contains that model’s power band. The treatment of a resale, import, exempt acquisition or special valuation requires its own assessment. This tool does not calculate customs charges, registration fees or individual exemptions.
Compare an old and a new tax bill
Keep the dated documents behind both amounts. Use our electric car tax and range comparison to compare annual MTV or one-time transaction taxes separately. For a pure tax-change scenario, keep all battery, consumption, mileage and electricity inputs identical. A purchase-tax increase is not automatically the same percentage increase in the total tax-inclusive price.
