EV Charging Time Calculator

Estimate AC charging time or explore DC tapering with visible assumptions.

Your vehicle, your numbers

Example numbers are prefilled. Replace them with your vehicle data and local prices. Currency changes the label, not the exchange rate.

Examples: 2.3, 7.4, 11, 22, 50, 100, 150 or 250 kW.
kW
%
Share of grid energy not stored in the battery. This is an editable scenario assumption.
%
Illustrative share of the lower of charger power and vehicle peak. Above 80%, the model halves this factor.

Why is this an estimate?

DC estimates use a simplified two-stage curve, not a verified vehicle charge curve. Battery temperature, starting SoC and power sharing can materially change the session.

See how the calculation works

AC time = energy added ÷ [min(charger output, vehicle AC limit) × charging efficiency]. DC uses separate below-80% and above-80% average-power assumptions.

DC estimates use a simplified two-stage curve, not a verified vehicle charge curve. Battery temperature, starting SoC and power sharing can materially change the session.

Start with comparable information

Check the units, time period and vehicle configuration behind each number. Use battery-side driving consumption for capacity estimates. Energy billed by a charger also includes losses and may include thermal management.

Vehicle specifications describe a version when new. A user-supplied report describes a particular vehicle at a particular time. Our calculations keep those two kinds of information separate.
